The short version
VibeClip does nothing with a normal copy. When you press ⌘C twice, the text you copied goes from your Mac to Anthropic, using your own API key, and the rewrite comes back to your clipboard. VibeClip has no servers and no accounts of its own.
What is sent, and when
- Only when you press ⌘C twice within about half a second.
- The copied text, plus your style notes and the writing examples you added in Settings.
- It goes directly to Anthropic's API with your API key. Anthropic's own policies apply to that request.
- Nothing is sent while VibeClip is paused, from apps you excluded, or from password managers.
What stays on your Mac
- Your Anthropic API key, in the macOS Keychain.
- Your settings, style notes and writing examples, in the app's preferences.
- Your last ten before-and-after pairs, in memory only. They are gone when you quit.
Password managers
Apps like password managers mark what they copy as concealed. VibeClip checks for that marker and skips those copies without reading their contents.
